Go outside the library: the library is not just books! Conduct outreach programs, take reading out of the libraries to establish local learning-communities and help develop a love for reading (through storytelling and book talks) and information literacy among young adults in the community. Strengthen outreach efforts to also advertise the existing library tools and services and make the public know about the benefits of using the library. Organize/co-organize public relations activities such as book fairs, book festivals, information days, exhibitions, seminars, hold library instruction classes like information literacy class, information skill class… As they are intangible and not easily visible, virtual tools and services need to be more heavily marketed. Meet people outside libraries in a good atmosphere, making it more open to non-users, more accessible in various ways (events, encounters, workshops, partnerships with artists, artschools…) to make our cultural heritage accessible to everybody. Work on your network, look for potential donors and benefactors, work with the local government to establish programs that will make even the non-users be included to come. We need to create outreach programs to raise awareness of community needs and empower community member whenever and wherever possible. #outreach #creativity #resourcefulness
